I spent nine years as a teacher, experiencing firsthand the demands of the classroom and the administrative pressures that take time away from teaching.
I then moved into school administration, working as an Administrator for Senior Leadership and Office Manager, before progressing into data management and MIS leadership.
Those roles gave me a unique perspective on how schools operate. I came to understand not just the challenges teachers face, but also the enormous amount of work carried out behind the scenes to keep a school running.
As I began developing applications and automations, my work took me into almost every area of school operations. HR, behaviour, safeguarding, SEND, finance, teaching and learning, assessment and more.
Through all of this, one thing became increasingly clear: school staff aren't short of work. They're short of time.
Teachers, administrators and support staff are already stretched. Too much of their working day is spent chasing information, duplicating data, completing paperwork and navigating processes that could be much simpler.
I don't believe technology should be about replacing the people who make schools work. I believe it should make their jobs easier. The real threat I see isn't automation replacing school staff. It's good people burning out under the weight of an ever-growing workload. If we can take some of that repetitive work away, we can give staff more time and energy for the things that matter, especially the students they work so hard to support.
That's the thinking behind SchoolRivet. A rivet is a small thing that holds different parts together. In much the same way, our solutions connect the people, processes and systems that schools already rely on, helping everything work a little more smoothly.
